Russian diplomat: parties in Iranian nuclear talks cannot afford losing a single hour

“I believe that the fact that the ministers remain here signals that the work may be crowned with success,” Deputy Foreign Minister said

VIENNA, November 22. /TASS/. The parties in the Iranian nuclear talks cannot afford losing a single hour as their efforts may be crowned with success, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said.

“Everyone understands that no a single hour can be lost, even for flights. If any delegations need additional instructions, it is not necessary to go to the capitals,” he said.

“I believe that the fact that the ministers remain here signals that the work may be crowned with success,” the diplomat said.

He stressed, however, that finding solutions will need a mutual movement towards each other. “Without meeting each other halfway, there cannot be an agreement,” Ryabkov said.

“If one expects that only one side takes a decision and meets the other side halfway, then this is not a compromise or agreement, but an act of surrender,” he stressed.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is looking into a possibility of coming to Vienna depending on the development of the situation at the negotiations, Ryabkov said.

“Of course, Lavrov is considering such a possibility. The issue is becoming increasingly acute, and this is quite probable,” he said.
