MOSCOW, May 9. /TASS/. Russian forces destroyed a Ukrainian command/observation post and a field ammunition depot over the past day in the special military operation in Ukraine, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported on Thursday.
"Operational/tactical aircraft, missile troops and artillery of the Russian groups of forces destroyed a command/observation post of the Ukrainian army’s 65th mechanized brigade, a field ammunition depot of Ukraine’s Battlegroup Donetsk and struck enemy manpower and military hardware in 105 areas," the ministry said in a statement.

Russian troops improved their frontline positions and repulsed a Ukrainian army counterattack near the Senkovka railway station in the Kupyansk direction in the Kharkov Region over the past day, the ministry reported.
"Battlegroup West units improved their forward edge positions in active operations and inflicted casualties on formations of the Ukrainian army’s 21st and 44th mechanized brigades in areas near the settlements of Stelmakhovka and Nevskoye in the Lugansk People’s Republic. In addition, they repulsed a counterattack by an assault group of the Ukrainian army’s 116th mechanized brigade near the Senkovka railway station," the ministry said.
The Ukrainian army lost roughly 40 personnel, two 152mm D-20 howitzers and a 122mm D-30 howitzer in the Kupyansk direction over the past 24 hours, it specified.

Russian troops advanced to better positions and inflicted casualties on four Ukrainian army brigades in the Donetsk area over the past day, the ministry reported.
"Southern Battlegroup units gained more advantageous sites and inflicted damage by firepower on personnel and equipment of the Ukrainian army’s 23rd and 33rd mechanized, 79th air assault and 111th territorial defense brigades in areas near the settlements of Yelizavetovka, Novoye and Pobeda in the Donetsk People’s Republic. They repulsed an attack by an assault group of the Ukrainian army’s 93rd mechanized brigade near the settlement of Krasnoye in the Donetsk People’s Republic," the ministry said.
The enemy’s losses amounted to 215 personnel, two armored personnel carriers, including a US-made M113 vehicle, two motor vehicles, a US-manufactured 155mm M777 howitzer, four 152mm D-20 howitzers and two 122mm D-30 howitzers," it specified.

Russian forces repulsed ten Ukrainian army counterattacks in the Avdeyevka area where the enemy lost roughly 380 troops and three armored combat vehicles over the past day, the ministry reported.
"Battlegroup Center units improved their tactical position in active operations and inflicted casualties on formations of the Ukrainian army’s 59th motorized infantry, 24th, 100th and 115th mechanized, 68th jaeger, 109th territorial defense and 2nd National Guard brigades near the settlements of Karlovka, Mayorsk, Novgorodskoye, Rozovka, Novokalinovo and Semyonovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic," the ministry said.
Russian troops repulsed ten counterattacks by assault groups of the Ukrainian army’s 23rd, 24th, 47th and 100th mechanized, 71st jaeger, 59th motorized infantry, 142nd and 143rd infantry brigades in areas near the settlements of Leninskoye, Solovyovo, Orlovka, Pervomaiskoye and Netailovo in the Donetsk People’s Republic, it specified.
The Ukrainian army’s losses in the Avdeyevka direction over the past 24 hours amounted to 380 personnel, a tank and two infantry fighting vehicles. In counterbattery fire, Russian forces destroyed two US-made 155mm M777 howitzers, two US-manufactured 155mm M109 Paladin self-propelled artillery systems, a 152mm Giatsint-B gun, a 152mm D-20 howitzer, two 122mm Gvozdika motorized artillery systems and a 122mm D-30 howitzer, the ministry reported.

Russian troops gained better sites and repelled a Ukrainian army counterattack in the south Donetsk area where the enemy lost roughly 175 personnel and 10 pieces of equipment over the past day, the ministry reported.
"Battlegroup East units gained more advantageous positions and inflicted casualties on manpower and equipment of the Ukrainian army’s 58th motorized infantry and 128th territorial defense brigades in areas near the settlements of Urozhainoye and Makarovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic. They repulsed a counterattack by an assault group of the 123rd territorial defense brigade near the settlement of Staromayorskoye in the Donetsk People’s Republic," the ministry said.
The Ukrainian army’s losses in the south Donetsk direction over the past 24 hours amounted to 175 personnel, two tanks, two armored personnel carriers, three motor vehicles, a British-made 155mm FH70 howitzer and two 122mm Gvozdika motorized artillery systems, it specified.

Russian troops inflicted casualties on manpower and equipment of three Ukrainian army brigades in the Kherson area over the past day, the ministry reported.
"Dnepr Battlegroup units inflicted damage by firepower on amassed personnel and equipment of the Ukrainian army’s 65th mechanized, 121st territorial defense and 23rd National Guard brigades in areas near the settlements of Rabotino in the Zaporozhye Region, Zolotaya Balka in the Kherson Region and Vysshetarasovka in the Dnepropetrovsk Region," the ministry said.
The Ukrainian army’s losses in the Kherson direction over the past 24 hours amounted to 35 personnel, two motor vehicles and two US-made 155mm M777 howitzers, it specified.
Russian air defenses down two ATACMS missiles, 28 Ukrainian UAVs over past day
Russian air defense forces shot down two ATACMS missiles, 15 Vampire rockets and 28 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) over the past day, the ministry reported.
"Air defense capabilities shot down two US-made ATACMS tactical missiles, 15 rockets of the Czech-made Vampire multiple launch rocket system, a rocket of the US-made HIMARS multiple launch rocket system, five French-made Hammer guided aerial bombs and 28 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles," the ministry said.
In all, the Russian Armed Forces have destroyed 594 Ukrainian warplanes, 270 helicopters, 23,856 unmanned aerial vehicles, 512 surface-to-air missile systems, 15,960 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,280 multiple rocket launchers, 9,415 field artillery guns and mortars and 21,563 special military motor vehicles since the start of the special military operation, the ministry reported.
